About
Circle Bells captures the rare, custom-built 'Blossom Bells' instrument created by San Francisco metal artist Pete Engelhart. This hand-welded, six-steel-bell percussion piece features a unique fan-like arrangement and offers deeply rich, warm tones with long sustains and crystalline clarity. Soundiron sampled each bell extensively, recording close-miked, wide stereo sessions of single strikes, staccatos, and rolls using soft mallets, hard picks, and viola bows. The result is a versatile library that evokes the sounds of a steel marimbaphone, celeste, and glass armonica, with an undulating, distinctive character all its own.
